10 Must Have Apps to Start a Self-Care Routine

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, self-care can often take a backseat. But with the right tools, prioritizing your well-being can become much more manageable. Here are some of the best apps and tools to help busy women like us integrate self-care into our routines:

1. Headspace

Meditation was something that my mind wouldn't slow down enough to allow until I was in my 40's. Of course, I started with one of the most popular meditation apps - Headspace. Headspace offers guided sessions to help reduce stress and improve mindfulness. Whether you have five minutes or twenty, there’s a session that fits into your schedule. It’s perfect for a quick mental reset during a busy day.

2. MyFitnessPal

I use this app almost every single day. My nutritionist advised me to start accurately tracking what I consume, and now I've been using MyFitnessPal for years. This app helps you log meals, monitor calorie intake, and keep track of your workouts. It’s a great tool to stay accountable and ensure you’re fueling your body properly.

3. Insight Timer

If you enjoy meditation but want more variety, Insight Timer offers thousands of free meditations. From guided sessions to soothing music and talks by wellness experts, it’s a comprehensive tool for mental relaxation.

4. CHANI: Your Astrology Guide

I've been an astrology girlie since the early 90's. This app makes astrology accessible and fun. They also offer guided meditations and even my husband will sit with me and listen to the affirmations. If you've got an ounce of astro-curiosity in your blood, this app is essential.

5. WaterLlama

Staying hydrated is crucial, yet easy to forget. WaterLlama helps you track your water intake and sends reminders throughout the day to ensure you’re drinking enough. Hydration is key to maintaining energy levels and overall health.

6. Calm

Similar to Headspace, Calm focuses on mindfulness and relaxation. It offers guided meditations, sleep stories, and breathing exercises to help reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. It’s a great app to use before bed to wind down from the day.

7. Moody

For tracking menstrual health, Moody is an invaluable tool. It helps you keep track of your cycle, monitor symptoms, and predict periods. Understanding your cycle can significantly impact how you manage your health and well-being.

8. Daylio

Daylio is a mood-tracking app that allows you to log your emotions and activities without typing a single line. This is the journaling app that you need if you're short on time. It’s helpful for recognizing patterns in your mood and identifying triggers, enabling you to take proactive steps towards emotional well-being.

9. Forest

Forest helps you stay focused and present by planting virtual trees for every set period you stay off your phone. It’s an excellent way to encourage digital detox and ensure you’re dedicating time to self-care without digital distractions.

10. Sleep Cycle

I saved my favorite for last - I am obsessed and I use it every night. Sleep Cycle tracks your sleep patterns and wakes you up during your lightest sleep phase, helping you feel more rested and alert. The data it provides can also help you adjust your habits for better sleep quality.

Incorporating these tools into your daily routine can make a significant difference in how you manage stress and maintain balance. Remember, self-care isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. So, take advantage of these resources to prioritize your well-being. You deserve it!
